Logistics Director manages all aspects of an organization's logistics management function to control, deliver, and distribute products and materials to the destination. Implements an overall strategy, metrics, and processes to deploy an optimized logistic network and operations. Being a Logistics Director oversees critical and related inventory, distribution, and transportation operations that support the achievement of organizational goals and KPI's for product delivery and customer satisfaction. Selects vendors and negotiates rates and service levels and monitors performance. Additionally, Logistics Director ensures compliance with all regulations governing transportation of goods.     POSITION SUMMARY

    Dunlop Sports is seeking a highly motivated Director of Production Planning & Logistics who can support the rapid growth of our organization. The incumbent will lead the development and execution of Dunlop’s strategic plans for all aspects of our Production Planning, Logistics, and Facilities functions at our Huntington Beach headquarters. As a key member of our team, the Director of Production Planning & Logistics will be responsible for Production Planning, MRO Purchasing, Shipping/Receiving, Warehousing and Inventory Management, as well as, Facilities. Furthermore, it will be critical that this role coordinate and partner with the Director of our East Coast Operations to minimize costs and ensure seamless delivery to our customers. A key deliverable of this role will be to drive efficiencies in Logistics. This role will also partner with several internal and external stakeholders such as Customer Experience, Brand Planning, Manufacturing, Safety, HR, and our Sales organization. The Director of Logistics will embody the Dunlop Sports Family Spirit and Values.

     

    SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES:

    • Lead and develop a high-performing Logistics team, fostering a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
    • Lead the Production Planning, MRO purchasing, Warehouse & Inventory Management, Shipping/Receiving, and Facilities functions.
    • Develop and implement strategies for the organization that align with the company’s mid-term plan and strategic objectives.
    • Develop a five-year roadmap that outlines the timing for process improvement initiatives, capital projects, implementation of new technologies/automation, and an organizational structure necessary to support it.
    • Drive efficiencies through the organization, reduce costs, particularly in the Logistics space.
    • In Partnership with IT, fully leveraging existing systems and identifying new systems in order to maximize processes, enhance visibility, control, and decision-making across purchasing, warehousing, inventory management, receiving and shipping. 
    • Manage transportation, including carrier/mode selection, route optimization, to balance service and cost.
    • Manage relationships with 3PL providers, as well as, other service providers and/or vendors to ensure optimal service levels and cost efficiency.
    • Create a credible production schedule that supports Brand Planning’s demand plan. Additionally, partner with Manufacturing on delivery of the plan.
    • Manage the Facilities team with responsibility for all maintenance requests, as well as, responsibility for the HB corporate headquarters facilities and grounds.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to continuously improve the logistics processes, streamlining operations, increasing agility and responsiveness, reducing costs and enhancing customer satisfaction.
    • Develop and manage the Production Planning, Logistics, and Facilities budgets.
    • Create cost sensitivity amongst the team. enuring that individuals are making cost conscious decisions and that we have the right policies and cost controls in place to manage costs. 
    • Develop a multi-year CapEx plan that supports the strategic roadmap for the Logistics organization.
    • Define Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the organization that align upward to the company’s goals and downward highlighting individual contribution and driving individual accountability. Develop a dashboard to track KPIs for productivity, efficiency, and cost.
    • Utilize performance metrics and data analytics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions where necessary.
    • Maintain compliance with all relevant regulations, laws, and company policies.

    Qualifications


    SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. An MBA or other advanced degree is preferred.
    • Professional certifications in supply chain management, such as APICS CSCP or CSCMP SCPro, are a plus.
    • Several years of experience in logistics and supply chain management, with a track record of increasing responsibility, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
    • Broad material handling, inventory management, manufacturing, supply chain, and distribution experience.
    • Demonstrated leadership in Purchasing, Inventory Management, Warehousing, as well as, Shipping & Receiving.
    • Demonstrated expertise in 3PL management and/or vendor management.
    • Proven distribution and logistics management in a group or multi-location setting.
    • Proven experience in managing WMS and/or TMS systems, as well as, leading initiatives to fully leverage the capabilities of WMS/TMS systems.
    • Strong knowledge of transportation, warehousing, and inventory management technologies.
    • In-depth knowledge of logistics best practices and industry trends.
    • Ability to analyze financial statements and understand resulting cost implications.
    • Comfortable working with data to analyze root causes, implementing long term solutions and improve outcomes.
    • Six Sigma/Lean manufacturing experience a plus.
    • Demonstrated success driving complex projects to completion utilizing continuous improvement methodologies
    • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
    • Familiarity with relevant regulations and compliance standards.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Power BI, Visio, & PowerPoint.
    • Advanced knowledge of Excel, BI, and other analytical and reporting tools.
    • Experience with Manhattan Scale is a plus.
    • Experience with JD Edwards ERP Systems (E1) helpful.
    • Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.

     EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field. An MBA is preferred.
    • Desired 5 years of experience in leading a Logistics team, as well as, broad experience with other functions, particularly Production Planning, but also Purchasing, Inventory Management, and/or Warehouse Management.
    • Professional certifications in supply chain management, such as APICS CSCP or CSCMP SCPro, are a plus.
    • Green Belt or Strong Knowledge of Six Sigma is a plus.
    • Experience related to Golf or sports equipment industry, particularly golf club manufacture/assembly is a plus.
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
