Logistics Director manages all aspects of an organization's logistics management function to control, deliver, and distribute products and materials to the destination. Implements an overall strategy, metrics, and processes to deploy an optimized logistic network and operations. Being a Logistics Director oversees critical and related inventory, distribution, and transportation operations that support the achievement of organizational goals and KPI's for product delivery and customer satisfaction. Selects vendors and negotiates rates and service levels and monitors performance. Additionally, Logistics Director ensures compliance with all regulations governing transportation of goods. Utilizes analytics to monitor and measure performance, identify problems in operations, and achieve high performance at optimal cost. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Logistics Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Position Summary
This position performs limited aspects of aviation supply management work (e.g., inventory management, storage management, cataloging, shipping, receiving, and parts utilization) related to aviation activities and limited aspects of logistics (e.g., forecasting, planning, coordinating, and executing). Work is usually segregated by commodity area or function, and controlled in terms of difficulty, complexity, or responsibility. Assignments/responsibilities may relate to stable or standardized segments of aviation supply management operations and logistical functions/operations. The work involves receiving aviation parts, stocking aviation parts, transporting parts to vendors, problem-solving, data management, data analysis, and logistical planning.
