Logistics Director manages all aspects of an organization's logistics management function to control, deliver, and distribute products and materials to the destination. Implements an overall strategy, metrics, and processes to deploy an optimized logistic network and operations. Being a Logistics Director oversees critical and related inventory, distribution, and transportation operations that support the achievement of organizational goals and KPI's for product delivery and customer satisfaction. Selects vendors and negotiates rates and service levels and monitors performance. Additionally, Logistics Director ensures compliance with all regulations governing transportation of goods. Utilizes analytics to monitor and measure performance, identify problems in operations, and achieve high performance at optimal cost. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Logistics Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Logistics Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Description

    The Logistics Manager is the primary individual responsible for the management of all Company delivery and transportation functions.  The Logistics Manager is responsible for the professional development and training of the Delivery Manager, Fleet Manager and Driver Trainer, and for all recruitment, hiring, training and management of all HOA Delivery personnel.  This individual is responsible for maintaining all compliance and record keeping regulations required by various Federal, State and Local Government entities regarding personnel and equipment issues.  This individual must be able to reach out to other departments and managers outside of their normal chain of command, providing help, and support as needed; as well as to make specific requests that will aid in the proper operation of the Delivery Department; in order to complete its daily mandate of enabling all orders to be fulfilled, in a timely, accurate and damage free manner.

     

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Helps ensure Heart of America Beverage Company’s market leadership position through delivery execution standards.
    • Ensures a safe workplace and environment for all direct reports.
    • Ensures that all direct and indirect reports understand and follow all safety policies and procedures specific to their position.
    • Ensures all department activities comply with DOT, OSHA, state, city, and federal requirements and regulations.
    • Responsible for training and developing direct reports to execute job responsibility in a safe and productive manner.
    • Ensures that all logistic processes and workflows are followed.
    • Collaborates with Director of Operations, Sales Team, Warehouse Manager and Supervisors to solve delivery and service issues to reach collective goals.
    • Monitors effectiveness of all logistic processes and workflows – providing improvement recommendations to the director of Operations.
    • Optimizes the best possible delivery service and cost scenario by considering truck weight, load capacity, number of stops, and service policies.
    • Monitor route effectiveness, modifying core routes as needed.
    • Track route productivity and time to improve service.
    • Ensures delivery team personnel is effectively utilized and hours closely monitored for overtime.
    • Train delivery manager on various reports and resources to effectively manage their teams.
    • Ensures the delivery manager is holding drivers accountable for breakage and over-shorts, following all DOT regulations and requirements.
    • Ensure the completion of proper documentation for accident/injury reports, progressive discipline actions and other personnel reporting.
    • Ensures the delivery manager and team leads follow up on all customer service-related issues – providing solutions and maintaining positive working relationships.
    • Working with the Fleet Manager to ensure all company vehicles and equipment are in proper and safe working order.

    Qualifications


    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree preferred or related field and/or equivalent experience.
    • Demonstrates ability to direct a team to achieve goals.
    • Proficient in select Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
    • Basic understanding of OSHA, EPA, DOT, FDA, and liquor control regulations.
    • Strong understanding of HOA market territory.
    • Demonstrates strong interpersonal relationship skills.
    • Strong written communication skills.
    • Strong knowledge of all equipment types, functionality, and capacity.
    • Strong knowledge of loading, warehousing, and delivery.
    • Demonstrates ability to train and coach team to further personal development.
    • Demonstrates strong customer service skills.
    • Strong understanding of product rotation and coding.
    • Possess ability to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
    • Possess a strong work ethic that operates with a sense of urgency.

     

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    Manage 2-4 subordinate department managers, driver trainer and delivery team consisting of 30-65 team leads, drivers and driver helpers.
