Logistics Director manages all aspects of an organization's logistics management function to control, deliver, and distribute products and materials to the destination. Implements an overall strategy, metrics, and processes to deploy an optimized logistic network and operations. Being a Logistics Director oversees critical and related inventory, distribution, and transportation operations that support the achievement of organizational goals and KPI's for product delivery and customer satisfaction. Selects vendors and negotiates rates and service levels and monitors performance. Additionally, Logistics Director ensures compliance with all regulations governing transportation of goods. Utilizes analytics to monitor and measure performance, identify problems in operations, and achieve high performance at optimal cost. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Logistics Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Logistics Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Position Overview:

    A best-in-class electrical contractor is looking for a Logistics Director.  This position is responsible for all aspects of Fleet, Equipment, Tooling, and Operation Centers located throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions, including managing all personnel and resources allocated to the lines of business. The position reviews and analyzes approximately $60M in overall expenditures, utilization, purchases, contracts, and leases for Fleet and Tooling to ensure all operations are within budget and allocated appropriately to the lines of business.


    Base Location/Travel Requirements:

    • This position is based out of York, PA.
    • Occasional travel to other offices or yard locations, trainings, and off-site meetings. 
    • Customer-related travel may also be required. 


    Essential Functions/Duties:

    • Oversee the purchase of materials/equipment/services necessary for utility operations, ensuring cost-effective and timely delivery.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors, negotiating contracts and ensuring adherence to agreed terms and conditions.
    • Ensure that all procured materials and services meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
    • Collaborate with engineering, construction, and maintenance teams to ensure that supply chain activities align with project schedules and goals.
    • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, such as delays, shortages, or quality issues, through strategic planning and proactive measures.
    • Oversee budgets for supply chain and operations activities, monitoring expenses and identifying opportunities for cost savings.
    • Use data analytics to monitor performance metrics and generate reports to inform decision-making and identify areas for improvement.
    • Lead and mentor a team of supply chain and operations professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
    • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies in all supply chain and operations activities.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement strategies to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
    • Explore and implement new technology, materials, and methods.


    Education, Skills, Experience:

    Required:

    • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications are a plus.
    • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in supply chain and operations management, preferably within the utility industry.
    • Familiarity with utility industry standards, regulations, and best practices.

     Other:

    • Relevant certifications such as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or Project Management Professional (PMP) preferable.
    • Familiarity with Vista and Align platforms.
