Implements an overall strategy, metrics, and processes to deploy an optimized logistic network and operations. Being a Logistics Manager oversees critical and related inventory, distribution, and transportation operations that support the achievement of organizational goals and KPI's for product delivery and customer satisfaction. Selects vendors and negotiates rates and service levels and monitors performance. Additionally, Logistics Manager ensures compliance with all regulations governing transportation of goods. Utilizes analytics to monitor and measure performance, identify problems in operations, and achieve high performance at optimal cost. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Logistics Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Logistics Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Duties:
- Receive daily route information from a centralized dispatcher via a company-provided handset
- Drive a personal vehicle to perform delivery service for FedEx Ground and for their customers
- Ensure quality of package delivery, including compliance with safety regulations, policies, and standards
- When handling perishables or other items requiring specialized handling including, but not limited to, dry ice, clinical samples, and/or medical products
- Operate vehicle according to applicable motor vehicle regulations, company policy, and auto insurance guidelines
- Ensure the proper upkeep and maintenance of the vehicle by conducting regular servicing and cleaning procedures
- Adhere to traffic laws and follow company accident procedures, vehicle safety policies and guidelines
- Follow and demonstrate proficiency with scanning packages according to prescribed procedures
- Maintain package delivery and vehicle maintenance logs
- All other duties as needed or required
