Logistics Manager manages all aspects of an organization's logistics management function to control, deliver, and distribute products and materials to the destination. Implements an overall strategy, metrics, and processes to deploy an optimized logistic network and operations. Being a Logistics Manager oversees critical and related inventory, distribution, and transportation operations that support the achievement of organizational goals and KPI's for product delivery and customer satisfaction. Selects vendors and negotiates rates and service levels and monitors performance. Additionally, Logistics Manager ensures compliance with all regulations governing transportation of goods. Utilizes analytics to monitor and measure performance, identify problems in operations, and achieve high performance at optimal cost. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Logistics Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Logistics Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
    As a Logistics Specialist (LS), your efforts are crucial in delivering what the Navy needs for mission
    success. There are two classifications of Logistics Specialists depending on whether you choose to serve

    on submarines, both with corresponding responsibilities:

    • Order, store, check and issue flight gear, repair parts and other equipment and goods
    • Organize and operate Navy post offices, ashore and afloat
    • Receive, sort, inspect and deliver arriving mail and cargo
    • Maintain inventory database and prepare reports and correspondence
    • Maintain financial logs and records
    • Operate computer systems that provide logistic support information

    QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

    • U.S. citizen or equivalent
    • High school graduate or equivalent
    • 17 years of age or older
    General qualifications may vary depending upon whether you're currently serving, whether you've
    served before or whether you've never served before.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT
    Serving part-time as a Navy Reserve Sailor, your duties will be carried out during your scheduled drilling
    and training periods. During monthly drilling, Sailors in the Navy Reserve typically work at a location
    close to their homes.
