Logistics Manager manages all aspects of an organization's logistics management function to control, deliver, and distribute products and materials to the destination. Implements an overall strategy, metrics, and processes to deploy an optimized logistic network and operations. Being a Logistics Manager oversees critical and related inventory, distribution, and transportation operations that support the achievement of organizational goals and KPI's for product delivery and customer satisfaction. Selects vendors and negotiates rates and service levels and monitors performance. Additionally, Logistics Manager ensures compliance with all regulations governing transportation of goods. Utilizes analytics to monitor and measure performance, identify problems in operations, and achieve high performance at optimal cost. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Logistics Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Logistics Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Position Summary
    Reporting to the Director of Transportation, the Logistics Manager is responsible for ensuring the right products are delivered to the right location on time, to the quality required and in the most cost-effective way by while limiting costs, improving accuracy, and customer service.
    Key Responsibilities

    • Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the logistics coordinator team.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with drivers, carriers, and customers.
    • Provide leadership, training and guidance to logistics and transportation team.
    • Coordinate with other departments to ensure efficient operations.
    • Monitor and analyze performance of logistics processes, identify areas of improvement, and develop and implement solutions.
    • Develop and maintain policies and procedures for logistics operations.
    • Develop and implement strategies for improving logistics operations.
    • Develop and implement processes for tracking and reporting performance metrics.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to logistics operations.
    • Adhere to all legal rules, regulations, and company policies as well as those of FMCSR, OSHA, and DOT
    • Set the tone for excellence by exemplifying core values that drive us and lead your team to the same.
    • Team logistics activities and approximate weight
    • OTR Full Truckload (Private Fleet) 30%
    • Backhaul Logistics 30%
    • Final Mile (Local Private Fleet and contracted carriers) 30%
    • Misc Other, intercompany transfers, LTL, 10%

    Attributes / Qualifications

    • A four-year degree in Business, Management, Supply Chain, or Logistics.
    • Two years of experience in a Logistics Leadership Role
    • Demonstrated proficiency in leading and managing teams
    • Strong communication/relationship skills with the ability to connect with all levels of the organization.
    • Truckload and Final Mile industry experience
    • High proficiency in transportation management systems and mobile-com technologies
    • Record of successful distribution and logistics management
    • A strong grasp of DOT rules and regulations
