    Summary

    The Setup Leader is responsible for all aspects of running a safe, efficient, and productive project while delivering the expected results (ex. Grand Opening Merchandising Standards) within the proper timeframe and budget. They provide leadership, management, supervision, and communication for the entire project while developing, supervising, and leading on-site management and team members. Responsibilities include (among others) planning the execution of and implementing the specific project, overseeing the management and execution of freight processing, merchandising, associate development, accountability for achieving overall project results while ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, providing a safe environment for customers, employees, all property and merchandise; along with other duties as assigned.


    Essential Functions

    • Achievement of superior results by developing and training best practices for fixturing, merchandising, expense control and shrinkage reduction
    • Formulate and execute plans for each specific project
    • Provide outstanding results through the formation, continuous training and proper scheduling of an engaged workforce. Establish, communicate, model, and monitor daily goals for each project within current company guidelines
    • Support and meet company expectations for employee retention and developing leadership talent
    • With appropriate oversight, ensure that the Setup Assistant remains primarily responsible for and carries out his or her own management and supervisory responsibilities. Due to the different complexity of each project, communicate clearly these expectations with each project
    • Perform all functions of opening and closing the store as needed
    • Develop and support a team-oriented environment with all associates of the current project
    • Drive, monitor and assist direct reports and associates in ensuring freight processing, merchandising standards, and operational controls are completed timely, safely and to company expectations
    • Timely and accurate communication and completion of all internal reporting for the specific project
    • Maintain building, grounds (generally from frond drive to back lot), and equipment in good repair through consistent communication and follow-up
    • Place orders of all necessary store supplies and fixtures to complete the project
    • All projects are to be completed to company expectations within the timeframe and budget
    • Lead by example, this role is 80 percent or higher hands-on
    • Additional responsibilities to be determined as business needs arise


    Requirements

    • Ability to operate store and warehouse equipment (including but not limited to telephone, copiers, fax machines, computers, pallet jacks, forklifts, balers, compactors, etc.)
    • Ability to process merchandise information through store computer system, register, lap top and complete all required paperwork/reports
    • Ability to professionally communicate and relate with both store personnel and upper level management
    • Report all customer/associate accident or incidents in a timely manner (Same Day)
    • Place stock requests and markdown request on a needed/regular basis to complete the project to Grand Opening expectations
    • Ability to clearly speak and make effective announcements over the intercom
    • Ability to move throughout all areas of the store; sales floor, receiving, register areas, including the outside perimeter of the store
    • Ability to travel between stores with significant overnight stays required



    • High School diploma or equivalent required
    • Higher education, including two and four-year degrees related to business management preferred, but not required
    • Minimum of three years store management experience in a mid-size to large retail service-oriented business, or demonstration of skills and learning through an internal development program and selection process
    • Possess the ability to effectively manage in a professional work environment
    • The ability to exercise sound judgment
    • Efficient planning, prioritization and implementation of detailed instructions
    • The ability to learn and communicate new information and processes to all associates within company standards
    • Comprehension of selling and service skills
    • Outstanding interpersonal and listening skills
    • Move objects up to and exceeding 200 pounds with reasonable accommodation
    • Ability to bend, stand, stoop, climb, walk, and crouch on a frequent basis
    • Ability to pull, unload, lift on a frequent basis
    • Ability to lift (10 to 20lbs continually, 50lbs regularly, over 75lbs occasionally)
    • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
    • Ability to climb ladders


    Working Conditions:

    • Must be willing to work irregular, extended or non-core business hours, nights, weekends, holidays as needed to meet project timelines
    • Ability to work in hot, cold, dry and or wet conditions
    • Ability to work around noise
