MRI Technologist operates a magnetic resonance scanner to obtain images used in the diagnosis and treatment of patient pathologies. Uses knowledge of imaging techniques and cross-sectional anatomy to create high quality images for interpretation by radiologists and other medical professionals. Being an MRI Technologist modifies technical settings and adjusts scanning parameters to enhance images and minimize unnecessary exposure. Performs routine inspections and maintenance on scanner and archives imaging data. Additionally, MRI Technologist typically requires an associate degree in a related area. Requires ARRT certification. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. The MRI Technologist works under moderate supervision. Pay Range: $43.18 - $49.73 per hour, based on experience.
A Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) technologist performs all required exams in the MRI Department while assuring high quality patient care and adequate MR Safety protection at all times. The MRI Technologist must be responsible for On-Call duties and be available to respond within the timeframe outlined in the Radiology Policy and Procedure Guidelines. The MRI Technologist will also be required to perform intravascular contrast media injections as defined in Section 89.40 in Part 89 Practice of Radiologic Technology.
Education/Training: High school graduate or equivalent required. Ability to read, write, and communicate in English. Successful completion of formal training program in Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
Experience: 1 year of experience in MRI. Must possess high degree of knowledge and understanding in services and technology.
Experience: Registered by the ARRT in MRI within 6 months of hire. Must be Diagnostic registered with certification to administer contrast media from New York State. Must be BLS certified from the American Heart Association.
