MRI Technologist operates a magnetic resonance scanner to obtain images used in the diagnosis and treatment of patient pathologies. Uses knowledge of imaging techniques and cross-sectional anatomy to create high quality images for interpretation by radiologists and other medical professionals. Being an MRI Technologist modifies technical settings and adjusts scanning parameters to enhance images and minimize unnecessary exposure. Performs routine inspections and maintenance on scanner and archives imaging data. Additionally, MRI Technologist typically requires an associate degree in a related area. Requires ARRT certification. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. The MRI Technologist works under moderate supervision.     As an MRI technologist, you will take medical images of patients for diagnostic purposes using magnetic resonance imaging. Working in a hospital, outpatient center, private practice, imaging center or other healthcare facility, you'll prepare patients for MRIs, operate MRI technology, process MRIs for radiologists and physicians and handle patient records. You might also use other radiologic equipment such as CTs and X-rays.

    Minimum Requirements

    • At least 1 year of recent experience as an MRI technologist
    • ARRT Certification
    • BLS Certification (AHA)
    • Current state license (if applicable)
