Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· DETERMINES SEQUENCE OF OPERATIONS by reading and understanding written and verbal instructions and specifications in the related work orders.
· PREPARES MACHINES FOR PRODUCTION by positioning and securing dies, stops, guides, and setting and adjusting controls.
· PLANS WORK ASSIGNMENTS by studying and clarifying instructions, calculating requirements, gathering materials and supplies.
· PREPARES EQUIPMENT FOR OPERATION by conducting operator inspections, performing preventive maintenance checks.
· KEEPS EQUIPMENT OPERATING by following operating instructions and established procedures; troubleshooting breakdowns; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
· ACCOMPLISHES WORK by following the general manufacturing process related to particular department and products:
a. Performing initial set-up according to standard operating procedures.
b. Operating equipment; observing varying conditions; adjusting equipment controls.
c. Loading and unloading product from machines.
d. Completing production to established specifications.
e. Meeting production standards and deadlines.
· REPORTS PRODUCTION PROBLEMS by notifying supervisor in a timely manner.
· DOCUMENTS PRODUCTION ACTIONS by using the production posting system.
· ENSURES QUALITY STANDARDS ARE MET by
a. Conducting initial quality check before receiving approval from Quality Assurance,
b. Performing in-process inspection, and, when authorized, performing final inspection.
c. Detecting and reporting defective materials or questionable conditions to the supervisor.
· MAINTAINS WORK AREA IN A SAFE, CLEAN AND ORGANIZED CONDITION by adhering to the company’s standards and policies, following safety regulations and alerting the appropriate person regarding potential concerns.
Level 1 Description
· Requires some supervision.
· Ability to set up machine according to SOP.
· Ability to operate machine according to SOP.
· Ability to use measurement tools in process.
· Ability to use Axis system for product entry.
· Demonstrates teamwork.
· Ability to complete general machine maintenance checklist.
Education and Experience:
· High school diploma or GED required
· Minimum 1 year manufacturing related experience
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Must be able to read and interpret work orders, use simple math, and use basic hand held and measuring tools.
· Must have competent verbal and written communication skills to communicate with others and comprehend work instructions.
· Basic computer skills required to use keyboard to open appropriate screens, enter data, save and print tags and production sheets; also have t know how to scan and save documents.
· Be an effective team player as well as an independent worker. Occasionally assist in training of individuals in the machining process.
Physical Demands:
· Standing or sitting for long periods of time including entire shift
· Light to moderate physical effort required, involving lifting, pulling, pushing and bending.
· Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
· Regularly required to reach and move about the facility.
Personal Protective Equipment:
· Safety Glasses must be worn at all times.
· Steel toe safety shoes must be worn at all times.
· Ear plugs must be worn when appropriate.
· Other personal protection equipment as necessary
