Machine Shop Maintenance Supervisor oversees personnel in charge of maintaining, repairing, and rebuilding various production machines and equipment. Supervises the maintenance and repair of pumps, grinders, mixers, and a variety of other machines. Being a Machine Shop Maintenance Supervisor oversees the setup and use of tools and equipment before production use in order to ensure the optimum level of safety. May require a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Machine Shop Maintenance Supervisor typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise a team of machine shop technicians
- Oversee the daily operations of the machine shop, ensuring efficiency and productivity
- Set up and operate various machines, such as CNC mills, lathes, and presses
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
- Perform quality control inspections to ensure products meet specifications
- Fabricate and assemble parts according to engineering specifications
- Utilize precision measuring tools, such as calipers and micrometers, to verify dimensions
- Collaborate with engineers and designers to optimize manufacturing processes
- Maintain inventory of materials and tools needed for production
- Train new team members on machine operation and safety procedures
Qualifications:
- Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of machining processes
- Proficient in quality control techniques and procedures
- Experience with tooling selection, setup, and maintenance
- Familiarity with CAM programming software (Gibbs cam software) for CNC machines
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T symbols
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong leadership abilities with the ability to motivate and guide a team
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams
