Reports to: Machine Shop Team Leader

Mission Statement: The Machine Operator must be able to work well on their own with little supervision, according to AS9100 quality processes. At least one year of prior machine operator experience is preferred. Their work is essential in delivering parts of unmatched quality to our customers. As a team member on the Machine Shop team, you’ll work with experienced CNC programmers and operators to learn the quality-centered machining techniques that have made us an industry leader for over 50 years. Through this critical role, you’ll advance your talents through mastering:

• Build efficiency techniques
• Interpreting drawings and prototypes
• AS9100 protocols and processes for quality
• Growing your talent by cross-training on other machines and operations in the plant

Location: Wayland, MI - Manufacturing Facility

Shift: First Shift - 7AM-3:30PM

Qualified candidates will possess the following minimum requirements:

• Due to ITAR requirements, we can only consider American Citizens for this position.
• A minimum of two years of prior manufacturing experience is required.
• Must have at least 20/20 vision - with vision correction aides (i.e. glasses, contacts).
• Must be able to remain standing for extended periods.
• Must be able to operate Lathe using both hands while standing.
• Attention to detail is a must, along with the ability to ignore distractions while working.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Operate CNC lathes, mills and 2nd operation manual lathes to create parts.
• Perform designated operations per drawing/work order requirements.
• Perform quality checks on parts after completed.
• Maintain a clean work area.

Quality:

• Use calipers, micrometers, gauges, optical guide and protectors to measure and validate the quality of your work independently.
• Validate individual parts produced against customer specifications.

Process Improvements:

• 
  Learn Lean Manufacturing techniques to help the department eliminate waste and downtime.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to determine ‘better ways’ to service our customers.
• Learn to peer-review others and provide constructive feedback for improving overall team performance.

Safety:

• Mindfully follow all safety procedures and protocols, including the use of protective gear and material hazards handling to safeguard yourself, your fellow team members and set an example our high safety expectations for new team members.
