Machine Shop Polisher
Job Description:
Position Summary: Operates bench polishing lathe, grinding and buffing wheels, to clean, de-burr, polish internal diameter and remove surface discolorations and imperfections on small parts.
Job Duties and Responsibilities: Operate machines such as speed lathe, buffing wheel and grinding wheel. Uses a speed lathe to polish valve and regulator bodies bringing surface finishes to acceptable quality level. Uses buffing wheels and grinding wheels to polish springs. Selects abrasive paper to type of finish required. Applies speed lathe to manipulate valve or regulator body against tool, to clean, smooth, de-burr and remove surface discolorations and imperfections to acceptable quality level.
Maintains workbench and area in a clean and neat order. Must become familiar with the quality systems documents within the department referenced on the Required Training Matrix (RTM-100). Frequent contact with other polishers to coordinate workflow.
Interacts with Plant DI Wash, CR DI Wash, and Sub Assembly. Receives instructions from Polishing Supervisor and discusses with Supervisor issues concerning body finishes.

Specific Job Skills:
Must have good manual dexterity.
Must be able to sit at workbench for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Qualifications:
Will receive on-the-job training for some essential functions and job skills.
