  • Position Summary

    Under direction, the Engineering Technician ensures production machinery remains in proper working order by carrying out effective preventative maintenance, troubleshooting equipment, scheduling downtime to perform any required maintenance. Orders and maintains part inventory. Plans and executes machinery overhaul as necessary, completing and logging preventative and scheduled maintenance. Supervises maintenance team. Identifies and implements opportunities for efficiency and process improvement and aids in the planning and installation of new equipment and technologies.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Associate’s Degree in Mechanical, Applied or Industrial Engineering
    • At least 5 years’ experience in manufacturing environment
    • Knowledge of AutoCAD and Solidworks, preferred
    • Valid Texas Driver License with acceptable MVR and background check

    Typical Duties

    • Reviews, researches and interprets state and federal environmental regulations to determine company’s required compliance and reporting of air emissions, radiation safety, hazardous waste, wastewater and storm water. Develops and manages purchased equipment according to manufacturing standards and performance expectations. Implements modification/upgrades, as required.
    • Maintains working knowledge of equipment, facility and motor control systems for diagnostic or replacement purposes.
    • Provides oversight and direction for activities related to development of new processes including researching current and emerging technologies, evaluating process cost, quality and performing process characterization and optimization studies using designed experiments, problem solving and decision-making tools.
    • Manages relationships with strategic partners, engineering firms, equipment vendors and technology partners.
    • Works with corporate engineering to design, construct, implement process equipment, equipment upgrades, control systems, monitoring systems and mechanical upgrades to improve area functionality, safety, product yield, sanitary product conditions and energy efficiency or waste reductions.
    • Develops and manages capacity models for production lines and works with plant management team ensuring capital purchases are aligned with capacity projections.
    • Identifies capital equipment and facility improvements, as required.
    • Develops work instructions, training and statistical performance measures for new or improved processes and equipment ensuring effective transition to operations.
    • Monitors performance and proper operation of facility power distribution for safe and efficient operation; recommends and implements changes for system upgrade, as required.
    • Promotes continuous improvement culture and OEE initiatives throughout facility with team members.
    • Supports safety and food safety programs by participating on safety teams.
    • Performs other duties, tasks and special projects as assigned.
