SUMMARY:    Working with a Machinist Master Craftsman while developing skills required for repairing and maintaining plant equipment for a world-class pulp and paper manufacturing facility mill.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Example duties could include, but are not limited to:

• • Operate power tools.
  • Operate a manual milling machine.
  • Operate a manual lathe.
  • Learn various mechanical duties.
  • Prepare rigging for hoisting rolls, gear boxes, motors, etc.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and repair minor damage.
  • Assist Mechanical Master Craftsmen during shutdowns and outages.

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

• The noise level in the work environment can be loud at times.
• Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts.
• May be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
• Frequently exposed to hot and/or cold conditions.
• Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, vibrations.

Qualifications

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate degree in Machine Tool or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of (5) years related industry experience with a stable work history.
• Ability to operate industrial machinery (such as fork trucks, riggings, come-along) and other power tools.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
• Must have functional knowledge of basic computer systems (i.e. Microsoft Office products).
• Knowledge of the properties of metal and other materials.
• Team-oriented and self-directed.
• Must show proficiency in mathematics, to take precise measurements and make calculations.
• Ability to pass a drug screen and background check.
• Comfortable working in a Union environment.
• Ability to work at various height elevations.
