Machinist assembles, repairs, and fabricates parts or components for tools or machines by operating mechanical equipment. Reads and interprets blueprints and design sketches to determine the precise specifications, dimensions, and tolerance levels of the finished product. Being a Machinist selects and operates the appropriate tools to cut, shape, or finish metal, plastic, or composite material. Sets up, services, and maintains equipment to ensure efficient and safe operation. Additionally, Machinist utilizes precision measuring instruments to check the accuracy and quality of machined parts. Assembles parts into sub-units or complete units as necessary. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Machinist works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area.     Responsibilities

    Weatherford is seeking applicants for the position of Machine Operator in our Wallingford facility. This is a hands-on, rewarding role where you will be producing quality and efficient products and tools for the oil and gas industry.  You’ll be working within a supportive, inclusive team in a fast-paced, progressive environment.     DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: (not listed in any particular order)

    • Fabricate and modify tools and equipment. 
    • Calculate and set controls to regulate machining, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media. 
    • Measure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications. 
    • Install repaired parts into equipment and operate equipment to verify operational efficiency. 
    • Clean, lubricate, and maintain machines, tools, and equipment to remove grease, rust, stains, and foreign matter. 
    • Manufacture needed tools. 
    • Know and understand Weatherford Quality Policy and comply with all requirements of the Quality Systems Manual, Operating and Technical Procedures and Workplace Instructions. 
    • Must understand and comply with all safety rules and company policies of Weatherford. 
    • Work assignments carried out to the highest quality level. 
    • Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by supervisor within the physical constraints of the job.

    Qualifications

    • 3 years’ experience in an manufacturing environment operating machines
    • Mechanically Inclined experienced required
    • Basic understanding of machine operations  
    • Read basic measuring tools
    • Understanding of geometric tolerances preferred
    • Ability to read and understand blueprints required
    • Ability to drive/operate loader and forklift
    • Must have high school diploma or GED
    • Seeking self-guided individuals
