Machinist assembles, repairs, and fabricates parts or components for tools or machines by operating mechanical equipment. Reads and interprets blueprints and design sketches to determine the precise specifications, dimensions, and tolerance levels of the finished product. Being a Machinist selects and operates the appropriate tools to cut, shape, or finish metal, plastic, or composite material. Sets up, services, and maintains equipment to ensure efficient and safe operation. Additionally, Machinist utilizes precision measuring instruments to check the accuracy and quality of machined parts. Assembles parts into sub-units or complete units as necessary. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Machinist works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. We are currently seeking a CNC Machinist to bolster an already strong team! We are looking for a self-motivated, hands-on CNC Machinist with production, quality and experience in mechanical prototyping a bonus. Main duties will be as a CNC machine operator, your duties will include running tests before the start of operations, programming and monitoring machines when assembling products and inspecting machinery at the end of each shift to identify parts needing repair. This position will work with cross functional groups from manufacturing operations, quality and engineering members in supporting the design, development and manufacturing of Cree Lighting products.
This position will work onsite at our Racine, WI headquarters.
