Machinist assembles, repairs, and fabricates parts or components for tools or machines by operating mechanical equipment. Reads and interprets blueprints and design sketches to determine the precise specifications, dimensions, and tolerance levels of the finished product. Being a Machinist selects and operates the appropriate tools to cut, shape, or finish metal, plastic, or composite material. Sets up, services, and maintains equipment to ensure efficient and safe operation. Additionally, Machinist utilizes precision measuring instruments to check the accuracy and quality of machined parts. Assembles parts into sub-units or complete units as necessary. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Machinist works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. This position is a 1st shift role. Monday thru Friday, 6:30am-3pm Job Summary: Flowserve is looking for a motivated Machinist to work with the Machine Shop team. In this role you will have an opportunity to set up and operate CNC and manual machines including but not limited to vertical machining centers, horizontal machining centers, lathes, mills, drill presses, saws, grinders, and gear cutting equipment. Responsibilities: • Setup and operation of manual and/or CNC machining equipment • Machining of components to meet print dimensions and tolerances • Parts measurement using tools such as, but not limited to: • Outside micrometer • Inside micrometer • Depth micrometer • Digital, dial and vernier calipers • Scales • Maintaining an organized and safe work environment • Accurately completing all paperwork associated with tasks being performed • Keeping up to date with all required trainings Requirements: • Typically 3 – 5 years’ experience doing similar work • Manual machining experience • Understands and buys into a zero-accident safety culture expectation • Basic shop math skills including arithmetic, conversion of fractions to decimals • Ability to read and interpret mechanical/production drawings including tolerancing • For CNC machines, an understanding of G-code and / or conversational programming • Must be willing to work 1st shift Preferred: • Experience working with cast materials • Basic understanding of turning insert geometries and grades • Understanding of basic cut conditions including appropriate feeds, speeds and depths of cut • Previous experience machining stainless alloys Site Specific Details: • Overtime as required (required overtime will have 36 hour notice) Req ID : R-7378 Job Family Group : Operations Job Family : OP Machining EOE including Disability/Protected Veterans.
