Wieland is hiring a Machinist. The Machinist will be responsible for completing layouts for and performing difficult machining operations on replacement parts, diagnosing and troubleshooting machine problems; repairs, tears down and reassembling intricate mechanisms and machines; and installing, maintaining, and repairing a wide variety of complicated machine tools. This role is located in Pine Hall, NC and will be fully on-site.

Starting Pay: $21-$25/hourly

Schedule: M-F 6:30 am to 3 pm (Will go to a 2-2-3 schedule after 6 months of training)

Pay Schedule: Bi-Weekly

Machinist Responsibilities:

Follows safe working procedures.
• Manages the activities of his/her assigned projects.
• Plans and estimates machine shop activities.
• Creates layouts for and performs machine operations with the following equipment: lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, universal grinders, and boring machines, both manual-operated and CNC-controlled.
• Performs basic cutting and welding.
• Performs mechanical alignment using precision tools.
• Performs bench work and fabrication.
• Performs tool grinding operations.
• Performs installation of bearings, gears, seals, and packing.
• Maintains required records and documentation.
• Must know when and who to ask for help.
• Plans stock inventory and requirements.

Machinist Qualifications:

• Accepts and delegates high levels of responsibility for processes affecting the organization's long-term welfare.
• CNC programming and modifying programs is a plus.
• Deals effectively with all levels of personnel.
• Performs to a high level of self-discipline and ethics to protect the company's interests.
• Ability to read blueprints, work orders, engineering plans, material specifications, and orthographic drawings.
• Ability to judge and hold tight specifications.
• Ability to troubleshoot machine problems.
• Able to work from sample parts.
• Identify and select proper type of metals for job.
• In depth knowledge of national and international material-, drawing- and tolerance- standards
• Commitment to high quality standards
• Machinist certification and/or Associate's Degree with Minimum 0-3 years' machinist experience or No certification and/or degree with 3 plus years of experience
• Ability to clearly communicate ideas and information orally and in writing, in one on one and group situations, meetings, and conducting presentations.
