    POSITION PURPOSE

    Process incoming and outgoing mail and sorts incoming claims by designated lines of business in a timely manner.

    • Necessary Contacts: To effectively fulfill this position, the incumbent must be in contact with:All levels of BCBSLA personnel, postal employees, and external vendors.QUALIFICATIONS:

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education

    • High School Diploma or equivalent required
    • Additional training or education preferred

    Work Experience

    • At least 1-year previous experience operating postal equipment and working in a mailroom environment required.

    Skills and Abilities

    • Must have effective communication and interpersonal skills enough to maintain cooperative working relationships with customers and co-workers. Ability to follow written and verbal directions with attention to details necessary.
    • Must be able to operate a calculator, computer, other office equipment and perform simple math functions.
    • Must possess organizational skills with demonstrated ability to establish priorities and perform multiple tasks. Ability and skills to effectively work with a diverse group of people necessary.

    ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Open, clean, and sort incoming premium payments, incoming claims with the Opex machine and separate by lines of business ensuring that all incoming mail is processed in a timely manner.
    • Inbound and count all accountable mail for the organization.
    • Deliver incoming mail to respective departments and auxiliary mailrooms.
    • Delivers all accountable mail to respective departments for signature delivery.
    • Document department's daily production and postage expenditures used corporate wide to track postage expense with correct cost centers.
    • Process daily outgoing mail using the SendPro machine to affix appropriate postage for letters and parcels.
    • Clean, process, count, record, and deliver return mail to the respective areas
    • Prepare all certified letters for mailing for WFH teams.
    • Any additional ad-hoc jobs that are related to Mail Services
