Mail Server Administrator administers and maintains the organization's email system(s). Monitors server performance and mail routing. Being a Mail Server Administrator creates user accounts and maintains security levels on databases. Provides first-level telephone support and troubleshoots issues. Additionally, Mail Server Administrator monitors existing messaging infrastructure and server usage, ensuring proper working order. Provides recommendations and plans for improvements to e-mail network. May document internal policies or develop training for end-users. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Mail Technician will perform a variety of tasks associated with the receipt, sorting, and placement of all mail and parcels. They will assist in the preparation and completion of outbound mail and parcels to all carriers. These activities will be completed in a dependable, professional, safe and timely manner.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to safely lift and move heavy items (~50 lbs) repeatedly and stand for long periods of time
Ability to receive, sort, and distribute mail and parcels into mailboxes, bins, tubs, shelving units and other receptacles
Ability to accurately route materials to authorized locations
Ability to follow complex directions and complete tasks in a timely, efficient manner with limited direct supervision
Ability to work occasional weekends, overtime, and at both downtown and uptown campus locations
Ability to work well as part of a team
Required Education and/or Experience
No prior experience or training required
High School diploma or equivalent
Must have valid and unrestricted (not including corrective lens needs) U.S. driverâs license and must meet the Tulane University Motor Vehicle Policy criteria
Preferred Qualifications
Exhibits strong interpersonal skills necessary for providing personable customer service
Experience in a high volume mail operation or equivalent environment preferred
