Job Summary:
The Computer Technician – Network Administrator for Langston University
is responsible for managing and securing the campus network. This
position will manage the LU network infrastructure including switches,
wireless access points, cabling, etc. This position will also support general
IT needs of the University.
This individual will work in cooperation with the A&M System under
direction and oversight of the Executive Director of IT to ensure proper
support is provided to the University. This position will be required to
represent the University in joint meetings, councils, groups, or projects
where the University has a vested interest in the discussion.

Justification: Need capable personnel to manage LU’s network infrastructure.
Major Responsibilities:
Oversee day-to-day management of the LU network environment and
ensure support is provided to the entire university at all three campuses
Locations: Langston, OKC, and Tulsa
Assist with strategic planning for the university. Assist with developing a
formal plan for network infrastructure strategy and adoption at the
university.
Communicate effectively with campus employees, students, and
leadership. Build effective relationships with Executive Director of IT, A&M
CIO, A&M System, OSU IT, OneNet, and other external resources such as
vendors or consultants.
Supervise network upgrades to switches and wireless APs to ensure
campus networks and resources are secure and help ensure security by
maintaining appropriate safeguards to prevent and protect university data,
devices, and other resources.
Ensure appropriate network protections are in place (i.e. firewall, border
protection, etc.) and are updated appropriately and on-time.
Assist with other general technician needs including, but not limited to,
desktop and server configuration and deployment, general
troubleshooting, software installation and configuration, and computer lab
imaging and management.
Experience:
Information technology experience in higher education. Certifications, Registrations, or licenses
ITIL Foundations Skills, Proficiencies. Working Conditions Exceptional working conditions:
Periodically this position requires work after normal working hours and requires continual availability by cellular device. A cellular device will be provided, or additional income provided to compensate for use of personal device. This position may be required to be in an on-call/standby status for after hours and weekend emergencies. This job requires the employee to retrieve electronic equipment for investigative purposes. Describe any exposure to physical danger
and/or environmental hazards. Work is in both controlled and uncontrolled environmental areas. Work may require regular access to general university research laboratories.
