    Hours: The working hours are from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and this position is required to be on site Monday through Friday.

    Duties:

    • Provide mail leadership; personnel supervision; work assignments to the staff; preparing reports; responding to questions, etc.
    • Pickup/deliver mail twice daily.
    • Sort outgoing mail by class, meter (with proper postage), and complete required paperwork (e.g. certified or registered mail).
    • Sort incoming mail by routing code and place in proper bins and carts for delivery to any one of four buildings or to the proper bins for distribution.
    • Deliver boxes weighing less than 25 lbs. to floor stations throughout the facility and boxes weighing more than 25 lbs. to individual employee workstations.
    • Separate and prepare domestic and international mail in accordance with PBGC policies/procedures.
    • Look up mail with no routing code for proper distribution.
    • Provide direction to employees in resolving problems which arise with internal and external customers.
    • Train personnel to become proficient in the operation of all equipment and policies/procedures used in mail management.
    • Work on transition plan for mail services to the new location.
    • Operate PBGC’s mailroom at the current location.
    • Sort and distribute incoming mail, pickup and meter all outgoing mail and deliver all interoffice mail from the following mail stops: 50 mail stops on floors 1 through 12 – 1200 K Street NW; 3-5 mail stops on 2 floors at 1275 K St NW; and 1-3 mail stops on 1 floor at 1225 I St. NW
    • Sort and deliver all incoming mail that does not require research on the same day received.
    • Sign for all express and certified mail.
    • Perform all deliveries & pick-ups.
    • Meter all outgoing mail by 3:30 pm daily and place mail on the first floor of 1200 K Street for USPS pick-up.
    • Deliver/pick-up daily from all mail stops, once in the morning by 10:00 am and by 3:00 pm.
    • Pick-up, sort, and deliver an average of 300 to 500 pieces by 3:30 pm.
    • Mail shall be delivered to various departments within PBGC, i.e. Legal, Office of the Director, Office of Benefit Administration, etc.
    • Provide services continuously between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm, five days a week and shall include documenting deliveries, and logging all packages.
    • Collaborate closely with Project Manager, Dock Manager, and Material Handling Clerks to ensure Workplace Solutions Department (WSD) receives effective and efficient support services.

    Requirements:

    • Must be able to lift 40 - 70 pounds and be able to walk for long periods of time during an office move, equipment distribution, receiving merchandise from loading dock, provide escorts to visiting Candidates, etc.
    • Knowledgeable of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and Outlook.
    • SharePoint experience or the ability to learn new software programs is desired.

    Education and Experience:

    • Position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and five (5) years of experience relative experience with knowledge of mailroom functionality.
