The Mailroom Specialist– Mail Services performs a full range of mailroom duties, including logging, sorting, processing and distributing inbound and outbound USPS mail and small carrier packages. May also assist the Materials and Distribution Warehouse as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operates College vehicles to provide mail courier service to West Campus, Downtown Campus, East Campus, Northwest Campus, District Offices, and Maintenance & Security locations
- Sort, prepare and process college-wide USPS, special delivery, and inter-campus mail; inspect for and report damages and document problems
- Operate mail machines which include folding, inserting, postage application and proper coding of mail
- Transport USPS mail to 3rd party presort services vendor daily
- Deliver small quantities of materials, supplies, furniture, and equipment to multiple sites as needed, ensuring accountability for all items
- Support bulk mailing projects from College-wide departments
- May serve as lead to staff, temporary or student employees, to include assigning and monitoring work and providing direction
- Prepare and file daily reports
- Respond to complaints and answering general questions from various departments regarding areas of responsibility, to include investigating missing or incomplete mail or shipments
- Assist other team members when needed in the warehouse operation
- Ensures accountable mail, hand-carries and shipments are logged and traceable via software and/or paper methods
- Provides excellent customer service and maintains a courteous and professional demeanor at all times
- Operates in a safe manner at all times
- Adheres to all OSHA guidelines, ADOT laws and PCC and department policies and procedures
- Contributes to continuous improvement
Job Requirements:
- High School diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED) and
- Knowledge of US Postal Service regulations and classes of mail and
- Experience with outbound small parcel shipping services (USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL) including international requirements and
- Experience with MS Office and MS Excel and
- Valid Arizona Driver's License and demonstration of an acceptable driving record
or
- Candidates who possess similar minimum objective qualifications are encouraged to apply and should describe in detail the work experience and education you regard as establishing the equivalency
Preferred:
- One year experience with high volume USPS mail processing, or supply chain, or shipping, or logistics or production
Additional Information:
Successful candidates must meet minimum medical testing requirements, as determine in a physical examination that includes a lift test
Physical Requirements:
Typically requires: climbing, crawling, stooping, balancing, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing for prolonged periods, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, feeling, seeing, and repetitive motions.
Heavy Work: Exerting force up to 100 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Incumbents may be working in areas fumes, odors, chemicals, loud noise, low lighting, dusts, extreme temperatures, and local travel.
Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required for job, i.e. safety shoes, gloves.
