Maintenance Planner devises plans and programs for routine preventative maintenance and scheduled turnaround events at a plant or production facility. Accurately defines and estimates required work requests and maintains a consistent tracking system for work orders. Being a Maintenance Planner develops inspection and survey procedures to ensure an effective preventative maintenance system. Works closely with technicians, engineers, operations, and managers to establish a schedule of proactive maintenance activities during appropriate downtime. Additionally, Maintenance Planner utilizes planning and scheduling methods to ensure the most effective and least disruptive maintenance possible. Typically uses a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for tracking and planning maintenance. Monitors spare parts inventory to ensure availability of required parts. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. May require a Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Maintenance Planner work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project.     Under direction of supervisor, support plant equipment reliability by ensuring maintenance department has planned work to perform weekly applying the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).

    What you'll be doing

    • Assesses service requests for validity, accuracy, visibility and completeness. Ensures compliance and expectations prior to approving service request.
    • Owns the work order and service request backlog
    • Prioritizes and plans work orders based on asset criticality
    • Plans all aspects of non-emergency work orders to include parts required, estimated labor hours, special tools, detailed instructions and any coordination with contractors, other departments and support groups.
    • Partners with maintenance, operations, quality, stockroom and vendors as vital to ensure backlog work orders include everything vital to execute the work order
    • Partners with other plant personnel to plan and schedule maintenance work
    • Works with technicians and reliability engineers to build non-Preventive Maintenance (PM) / non-Predictive Maintenance (PdM) job plans to include parts required, technical specifications, special tools and detailed instructions
    • Manages the maintenance job plan library
    • Utilizes parts kitting process for PMs and all other work orders that can be scheduled and kitted
    • Utilizes work order status to accurately partition work orders
    • Work closely with maintenance supervisors to ensure:
    • Insure weekly assignments are delivered on time
    • Confirm Weekly assignments are returned in a timely manner to continue supporting the planning process
    • Updates job plans based on feedback from technicians, supervisors, managers and department engineers
    • Escalates issues for requested work which does not appear to be valid, feasible or has cost constraints, or requires engineering design/change control.
    • Prepare and submit ‘addition-to-stores’ requests as the need arises

    What you'll bring

    • A.A.S in related curriculum or equivalent experience
    • Acquire planner certification within 1 year
    • 5 years of previous industrial maintenance experience.
    • Prefer 2 years of previous industrial maintenance experience in assigned area
    • Must have the knowledge, skill and ability to perform corrective, preventive, predictive and improvement tasks and projects on industrial assets and systems to develop solid job plans for others to execute
    • Knowledge and proficiency with:
    • Microsoft Office computer software
    • North Cove’s drawing database
    • Maximo CMMS
    • Optimally use Maximo to accomplish all items listed above
    • Optimally present information one-on-one and in small groups
    • Understand verbal and written safety and quality instructions and read and comprehend written work instructions including words and drawings.
    • Must have basic English written and oral communication skills adequate to connect with other team members

    We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $48,000 - $66,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors.
