Maintenance Planner devises plans and programs for routine preventative maintenance and scheduled turnaround events at a plant or production facility. Accurately defines and estimates required work requests and maintains a consistent tracking system for work orders. Being a Maintenance Planner develops inspection and survey procedures to ensure an effective preventative maintenance system. Works closely with technicians, engineers, operations, and managers to establish a schedule of proactive maintenance activities during appropriate downtime. Additionally, Maintenance Planner utilizes planning and scheduling methods to ensure the most effective and least disruptive maintenance possible. Typically uses a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for tracking and planning maintenance. Monitors spare parts inventory to ensure availability of required parts. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. May require a Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Maintenance Planner work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project.     About the Position:

    The Maintenance Planner is responsible for maximizing equipment uptime through well planned scheduled maintenance work. In this role it is important to implement effective preventive maintenance procedures through proper planning and to implement effective maintenance planning and execution by utilizing auditing systems. The Maintenance Planner will drive and implement changes to machinery/equipment achieving greater efficiency.


    Responsibilities:

    • Plan, work and develop schedules and/or maintenance programs for preventive maintenance, new work and overhauls. Plan new equipment installation and equipment modification. Supervise maintenance group during absence of supervisor, roughly once/quarter.
    • Coordinate all work that involves a change in equipment or process through Engineering Manager/Maintenance/Safety.
    • Perform administrative responsibilities, to include regular back log status reports, weekly forecast of maintenance work reports, weekly report of work completed – planned and/or scheduled.
    • Order all materials for direct delivery required for work, including the planning and screening of orders placed by others to prevent duplication and provide receiving control. Set-up parts in storeroom, equipment list for new and established equipment. Maintain maintenance records for accuracy.
    • Work closely with: The Engineering Manager for team needs and priorities to develop daily,weekend or shutdown schedules. The Maintenance Manager to ensure plant consistency in priorities and procedures in using the system. Staff engineering to ensure proper follow up on releases, secure technical assistance as needed and maintain open lines of communication.


    Education:

    Bachelor's Degree or 5 years relevant manufacturing experience required


    Experience:

    • Manufacturing experience preferred
    • Ability to direct others, forecast, establish priorities.
    • Experience directing others preferred.
    • Proficient use of MMIS to process work orders, analyze and define equipment problems and develop PM and overhaul programs.


    Skills and Abilities:

    • Time Management skills required.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills required to bridge the technical discipline in a project-based environment with complex multifunctional solutions.
    • Problem solving skills
    • Must be technically competent at laying out work effectively for all crafts involves.
    • Knowledge of plant systems and equipment output preferred.
