Maintenance Planner, Sr. devises plans and programs for routine preventative maintenance and scheduled turnaround events at a plant or production facility. Accurately defines and estimates required work requests and maintains a consistent tracking system for work orders. Being a Maintenance Planner, Sr. develops inspection and survey procedures to ensure an effective preventative maintenance system. Works closely with technicians, engineers, operations, and managers to establish a schedule of proactive maintenance activities during appropriate downtime. Additionally, Maintenance Planner, Sr. utilizes planning and scheduling methods to ensure the most effective and least disruptive maintenance possible. Typically uses a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for tracking and planning maintenance. Monitors spare parts inventory to ensure availability of required parts. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. May require a Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Maintenance Planner and Scheduler is responsible for avoiding delays to maintenance activities, while ensuring good documentation practices. This role plays a key function in helping to improve work force productivity and work quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning and coordination of labor, parts, and equipment access. The Facilities Planner/Scheduler carefully plans and schedules work to maintain the designed reliability of equipment. Job plans created by the Facility Support group are intended to ensure or extend the life expectancy of equipment therefore aiding in the total reduction of maintenance cost and increased output of product. This role must establish strong relationships with key functions in the organization, this will play a critical role in the success of the planner/scheduler.
Education Requirements:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or a related field is preferred.
Experience Requirements:
A minimum of three years of experience working in a medical devices or pharmaceutical company as a Maintenance Planner, Scheduler, Coordinator or any other related experience is required. Experience working with and knowledge of computerized maintenance management system are required. Experience working in a regulated environment (FDA, EPA, etc.) and good understanding of Facilities compliance are required.
