Maintenance Planner, Sr. devises plans and programs for routine preventative maintenance and scheduled turnaround events at a plant or production facility. Accurately defines and estimates required work requests and maintains a consistent tracking system for work orders. Being a Maintenance Planner, Sr. develops inspection and survey procedures to ensure an effective preventative maintenance system. Works closely with technicians, engineers, operations, and managers to establish a schedule of proactive maintenance activities during appropriate downtime. Additionally, Maintenance Planner, Sr. utilizes planning and scheduling methods to ensure the most effective and least disruptive maintenance possible. Typically uses a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for tracking and planning maintenance. Monitors spare parts inventory to ensure availability of required parts. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. May require a Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Maintenance Planner, Sr. work is highly independent. May assume a team lead role for the work group. A specialist on complex technical and business matters.     What you will be doing:
    This Planner 1/2/3 position serves as the Northern Region's (Fairbanks Field Office) promotion, development, and implementation of the department's capital program for the DOT&PF Northern Region. Under direct supervision of the Planning Manager and guidance of the Transportation Planners, the incumbent will conduct complex planning studies; compile project background reports, project status reports, project nominations packages, and white papers; and assist in the preparation and revision of Alaska’s multi-year surface transportation, aviation, and other modal system improvement plans and programs for a specific Northern Region planning sub-area. The incumbent will represent DOT&PF to assure that transportation facilities, systems, and needs are adequately addressed.
