Maintenance Planner, Sr. devises plans and programs for routine preventative maintenance and scheduled turnaround events at a plant or production facility. Accurately defines and estimates required work requests and maintains a consistent tracking system for work orders. Being a Maintenance Planner, Sr. develops inspection and survey procedures to ensure an effective preventative maintenance system. Works closely with technicians, engineers, operations, and managers to establish a schedule of proactive maintenance activities during appropriate downtime. Additionally, Maintenance Planner, Sr. utilizes planning and scheduling methods to ensure the most effective and least disruptive maintenance possible. Typically uses a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for tracking and planning maintenance. Monitors spare parts inventory to ensure availability of required parts. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. May require a Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Job Purpose
Support the company’s maintenance program by focusing on plant equipment and building maintenance in a manner that meets and complies with all food safety policies and OSHA regulations.
Essential Functions
• Train Maintenance Technicians to electronically troubleshoot and repair PLC controlled equipment using installed PLC/programming
• Electronically troubleshoot and repair PLC controlled equipment using installed PLC/programming
• Train Maintenance Technicians to troubleshoot and repair electrical problems with plant equipment (e.g., wiring, circuits, fuses, switches, electrical installations, transformers, motors, and AC/DC motor drives)
• Train Maintenance Technicians to troubleshoot and repair mechanical problems with plant equipment (e.g., mechanical drive systems, HVAC, hydraulic and pneumatic systems)
• Train Maintenance Technicians to fabricate replacement parts or equipment as needed
• Electronically troubleshoot PLC controlled equipment by means of installed PLC
• Troubleshoot control circuits
• Report food safety and quality issues to appropriate personnel
• Comply with all food safety requirements, training, policies, and procedures
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications (Education, Experience, Competencies
• 2-year degree in electronics/maintenance mechanics or 7 years in maintenance mechanic roles, including repair or preventive maintenance in hydraulics, pneumatics, machine shop, electricity, or electronics.
• PLC installation, programming, troubleshooting, and repair experience essential
• Advanced stick and tig welding skills; ability to weld to sanitary standards desired
• Ability to work off shifts and weekends as needed; on-call availability
• Advanced knowledge of CMMS
• Working knowledge of lockout/tagout programs
• Intermediate computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office
• Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts to identify solutions
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team to complete assigned tasks
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
