Job Summary:
Obtains funds by aligning organization’s mission, programs, and community benefit with donor priorities with a specific focus on marketing, soliciting, and stewarding major and planned giving donors.
Essential Functions:
- Identifies Potential Major and Planned Giving Projects
- By examining previous giving records in concert with other development team members, identifying prospects among individuals and organizations, and establishing personal networks.
- By developing a portfolio of 100-125 prospects and donors with active moves management plans.
Cultivates and Stewards Relationships and Solicits Gifts and Pledges
- By getting to know and understand donors’ goals, priorities, and interests through regular and strategic communications
- By developing customized cases for support and gift proposals, in concert with other development team members, that match donor interests and goals with organizational priorities
- By conducting solicitation of appropriate donors and prospects
- By sending regular planned giving newsletters and information on planned giving opportunities in concert with planned giving vendor
- By maintaining contact and reporting on impact through phone, email, written, and in-person communications and meetings
- By consistently updating donor records with information on donor interactions, including personal visits, phone conversations, or written communications
Works Directly with Attorneys, Financial Planners, and Other Financial Professionals
- By processing paperwork for bequests and other estate gifts
- By following up on inquiries and requests for organizational information
- By maintaining relationships and developing a professional network of contacts in financial and estate planning
- By communicating with development and finance team members to properly record and document gifts and payment schedules
Manages Nursing and Therapy Scholarship Program
- By working with team members in development and marketing and clinical partners to announce scholarship opportunities
- By collecting and compiling scholarship applications
- By participating in the selection process
- By working with finance to process awards and track funding
- By organizing a ceremony for recipients
Acknowledges Planned Gifts
- By working with the database administrator and gift processor to develop personalized acknowledgement letters, gift agreements, and other gift documentation
- Monitor and Report on Results
- By monitoring status of solicitations and closed gifts or denials and reporting on that progress against individual and departmental goals.
- By working with development and finance team members to forecast planned giving revenue from bequests, perpetual trusts, and other structured gifts
Actively Stewards Members of The 1908 Society
- By maintaining regular in-person, phone, and written communication, including mailings, to maintain engagement with planned gift donors
- By producing and hosting an annual donor recognition luncheon and/or related activities specific to major and planned giving donors
- Maintains Professional and Technical Knowledge
- By attending workshops and seminars, reviewing trade publications and establishing personal networks.
- Participates in Establishing Departmental Goals and Plans
- By working with the IA team to support the organization’s strategic plan.
- Contributes to Team Effort
- By accomplishing related results as needed.

Qualifications:
- Education
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Master’s Degree preferred
- Work Experience
- 2-4 years of development experience, with previous personal solicitation and planned giving experience preferred
