    Serve as a regional major gifts officer for SSM Health St. Anthony Foundation benefitting patient care at SSM Health St. Anthony, Shawnee and Midwest City Hospitals. This position will work with the Regional Vice President of Philanthropy and Foundation, Annual Giving Director and Foundation Board to help plan and implement fundraising programs, projects and campaigns. Major gift focus with a portfolio consisting of community members, physicians, grateful patients, corporations and foundations. The ideal candidate will have a minimum 7 years’ experience, high level skills in communication, be excellent at building relationships, and collaborating with teams. At SSM Health, we know the healing power of presence begins with compassionate people like you.

    Job Summary:

    Responsible for developing strategies for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors with special focus on six and seven figure multi-year gifts to support the foundations funding priorities. This position has a direct impact on the department’s reputation among donors, as well as impacts the financial and operational performance of the department. The position works to support SSM priorities and raises funds for a diverse range of purposes including but not limited to events sponsorships, facilities, programmatic support and endowments.

    Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Maintains a personal prospect pool of major and principal prospects to cultivate, solicit and steward for the system wide philanthropy goals.
    • Responsible for major and principal gift fundraising and cultivating and soliciting prospects capable of gifts at the $100K level.
    • Develops and proposes strategies for solicitation of major and principal gifts system wide and/or regionally specific, including development of a grateful patient program, determining ongoing relationships with prospect/donor; recommending specific purpose and level of gift; identifying those to be involved in cultivation and subsequent solicitation; ensuring that solicitations are carried out.
    • Prepares major and principal gift solicitation letters, grant proposals, campaign or project materials, gift acknowledgement letters, and performs other duties and procedures for major gift prospects and donors. Participates in team, campaign and volunteer meetings for the purpose of managing and tracking top prospective donors.
    • Coordinates an effective program for recognition, involvement and stewardship of major and principal gift donors in coordination with system and/or regional/ministry foundation teams and the applicable stewardship coordinator within the system and/or region.
    • Identifies, cultivates, qualifies and solicits individuals, corporations or foundations able to make major and principal gifts to the Foundations using volunteers as appropriate. Develops and maintains strong donor relationships through frequent personal visits, telephone calls, correspondence, invitations to tours, dedications, meetings, events and other contact methods designed to keep them informed and involved.
    • Represents SSM Health Philanthropy Foundations in the community by participating in appropriate civic organizations, social events, hospital functions, etc. Participates in continuing education opportunities, including professional fundraising associations and conferences, in order to enhance and increase optimum fundraising skills, fund raising software and knowledge of changes in tax laws related to philanthropy.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION

    • Bachelor’s degree

    EXPERIENCE

    • Seven years’ of experience in corporate relations or development work that includes a concentration in corporate relations, including direct personal interaction with corporate executives or officers in the exploratory, cultivation and solicitation stages
    • Experience in a lead or highly active role with securing gifts and grants from corporations, including some at the six-figure level

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
    • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
    • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
    • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
    • Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
    • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.
    • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
    • Rare climbing.
