Major Gifts Manager manages and implements a philanthropic gift program to nurture and solicit relationships with corporate, institutional, and major donors. Develops a portfolio of existing and potential donors and a strategy to enhance and extend relationships to generate philanthropic revenue. Being a Major Gifts Manager organizes events and meetings with prospects to raise awareness of the organization's mission and highlight accomplishments and ongoing funding needs. Makes regular personal contact with key contributors to strengthen relations with the organization. Additionally, Major Gifts Manager oversees proposal preparation and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Major Gifts Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Major Gifts Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required. Position Overview
The Major Gifts Manager develops and implements strategies to help grow and maintain the Food Bank’s base of individual major donors. The Manager is an integral part of a fundraising team with a mission to share the important story of our Central Texas neighbors facing food insecurity while increasing engagement with key individual major donors. This role is a non-supervisory position who reports to the Community Investment Director and works closely with highly engaged and passionate team members of the Resource Development department.
Relationships
The Major Gifts Manager works in partnership with the Chief Development Officer and Community Investment Director, and collaborates with all other members of the Community Investment team including the Donor Relations Manager, Donor Relations Coordinator and Donor Stewardship Coordinator. This role will also interact with other teams in the Resource Development and Communications departments. The Major Gifts Manager works externally to meet with individuals in the community and strengthen our relationships within our communities.
