Overview
The Major Gifts Officer is a full time position within Scheck Hillel’s development team. This individual manages a portfolio of mid-level to major-level donors giving in the $3,600 - $18,000 range. The Major Gifts Officer leads the implementation of the major gifts plan and provides the development team with the necessary support to carry out this plan.

The Major Gifts Officer is a critical member of the team who partners with the admissions team, development team, board and development committee to identify, help cultivate and solicit prospective donors currently giving below $3,600 or prospects with capacity who are new or are not currently supporting Scheck Hillel.

Key responsibilities:

• Cultivate a portfolio of donors  $3,600 - $18,000 and identify a pipeline of prospective donors giving less than $3,600 or not currently supporting Scheck Hillel
• Maintain relationships on an annual basis including strategy, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and personal outreach/relationship building
• Work with the Development Committee to help manage lay leadership involvement in fundraising and provide the appropriate lists and resources to support their outreach and solicitation efforts which may include: training, outreach templates, talking points, suggested engagement opportunities and solicitation strategies to increase the donor’s connection to Scheck Hillel
• Implement the donor stewardship and recognition plan and provide all staff and lay leadership resources to steward assigned donors and acknowledge donors appropriately based on giving level
• Partner with the Development Chair to plan and run Development Committee meetings to share fundraising updates, engage committee members in upcoming development activities and serve as a resource to members of the committee

• 5 years of frontline fundraising and donor relationship building experience
• Proven ability to cultivate and solicit donors and to forge ongoing relationships with prospective and existing donors
• Skilled at developing relationships with lay leadership; works collaboratively to motivate volunteers to meet goals
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational skills; comfort managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines
• Proactive and self-driven work style
• Goal-oriented and data-driven with clear follow-through
• Understanding of Jewish values and possesses a passion for Scheck Hillel’s unique school philosophy and mission
