Major Gifts Manager manages and implements a philanthropic gift program to nurture and solicit relationships with corporate, institutional, and major donors. Develops a portfolio of existing and potential donors and a strategy to enhance and extend relationships to generate philanthropic revenue. Being a Major Gifts Manager organizes events and meetings with prospects to raise awareness of the organization's mission and highlight accomplishments and ongoing funding needs. Makes regular personal contact with key contributors to strengthen relations with the organization. Additionally, Major Gifts Manager oversees proposal preparation and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Major Gifts Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director of Gifts & Gratitude and working closely with all development staff, the Gifts & Grants Officer identifies, researches, cultivates and stewards funding opportunities for both individual and institutional donors. The Officer’s portfolio will include a mix of individuals giving personally or through donor-advised funds or family foundations, and key representatives of private foundations. S/he will be assigned a portfolio of active donors and prospects, and will be responsible for making initial contact, securing personal visits and working with the CEO, Director of Gifts & Gratitude, Programming and Finance teams, and others to manage, as applicable, the submission of letters of intent, proposals and online applications. S/he will act as a steward to funders and will work to establish long-term partnerships and strengthen existing relationships within the foundation and corporate sector as well as other key communities or individuals.
