Major Gifts Manager jobs in Providence, RI
Major Gifts Manager manages and implements a philanthropic gift program to nurture and solicit relationships with corporate, institutional, and major donors. Develops a portfolio of existing and potential donors and a strategy to enhance and extend relationships to generate philanthropic revenue. Being a Major Gifts Manager organizes events and meetings with prospects to raise awareness of the organization's mission and highlight accomplishments and ongoing funding needs. Makes regular personal contact with key contributors to strengthen relations with the organization. Additionally, Major Gifts Manager oversees proposal preparation and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Major Gifts Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Major Gifts Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required. Essential Job Functions
- Identifies, cultivates, solicits, stewards and manages relationships of prospective donors
- Participates in the development and implementation of strategic and operational planning for the department
- Maintains relationships with university representatives and works collaboratively to develop funding priorities in step with the university's strategic plan
- Engages university representatives in fundraising activities in order to maximize potential philanthropy to the university
- Maintains knowledge of current best practices in the field of fundraising and advances understanding through professional development
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree
- Experience with fundraising, major gift or other related experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or greater in communications, business or a related field of study
- Knowledge of Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge
