Mammography Technologist operates specialized X-ray equipment and performs various mammography related procedures including screenings and diagnostic studies. Develops and evaluates the film for technical quality such as density contrast, definition, and distortion. Being a Mammography Technologist creates and maintains patient records and files according to required procedure. Cleans and adjusts equipment as needed. Additionally, Mammography Technologist requires an associate degree or completion of a formal radiologic technology training program. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. Requires American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)Diagnostic Mammography. Mammography Technologist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. SUMMARY: Administers roentgen rays to patients according to age specific needs. Operates Mammography, Bone Densitometry and Ultrasound equipment. Prepares patient room, equipment, supplies, and medications. Provides patient services using imaging modalities. Performs/instructs patients on BSE. Performs DEXA and breast ultrasound exams.
Required Education/Training: Graduate of AMA-approved school of radiologic technology
Required Licensure/Certification/Registration: Registered or registry-eligible by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists; mammography certified within 6 month of hire/transfer; BLS
