Mammography Technologist operates specialized X-ray equipment and performs various mammography related procedures including screenings and diagnostic studies. Develops and evaluates the film for technical quality such as density contrast, definition, and distortion. Being a Mammography Technologist creates and maintains patient records and files according to required procedure. Cleans and adjusts equipment as needed. Additionally, Mammography Technologist requires an associate degree or completion of a formal radiologic technology training program. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. Requires American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)Diagnostic Mammography. Mammography Technologist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Job Summary:
Operates X-ray equipment and performs various mammography related procedures.
Develops and evaluates the film for technical quality such as density contrast, definition, and distortion.
Explains procedures and educates patients about the role of regular mammography in preventive breast health. Responsibilities also include preparing and maintaining records and files, and cleaning and adjusting equipment as needed. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks.
Works under general supervision.
Qualifications:
Requires completion of a formal radiologic technology training program in an accredited school
Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Mammography
NM Radiology Tech license.
Basic Life Support Certification or obtain per policy; maintain certification.
1 year of experience in radiology preferred
Competency in components of radiography practice as appropriate.
