Mammography Technologist operates specialized X-ray equipment and performs various mammography related procedures including screenings and diagnostic studies. Develops and evaluates the film for technical quality such as density contrast, definition, and distortion. Being a Mammography Technologist creates and maintains patient records and files according to required procedure. Cleans and adjusts equipment as needed. Additionally, Mammography Technologist requires an associate degree or completion of a formal radiologic technology training program. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. Requires American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)Diagnostic Mammography. Mammography Technologist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. SUMMARY:
Provides a variety of technical radiographic procedures including the additional modality of mammography, under the direction of a radiologist. Clerical procedures, and other duties will be assigned as directed by the Lead Mammography Technologist or Department Manager. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served on assigned unit.
