Mammography Technologist operates specialized X-ray equipment and performs various mammography related procedures including screenings and diagnostic studies. Develops and evaluates the film for technical quality such as density contrast, definition, and distortion. Being a Mammography Technologist creates and maintains patient records and files according to required procedure. Cleans and adjusts equipment as needed. Additionally, Mammography Technologist requires an associate degree or completion of a formal radiologic technology training program. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. Requires American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)Diagnostic Mammography. Mammography Technologist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Participates in invasive breast biopsies. Responsibilities for complete patient throughput include, but are not limited to, procedures, supply inventory, documentation, and communication with family, physicians and involved ancillary staff. Participates in department Quality Improvement activities and equipment quality control plans.
Emphasis on professionalism and patient satisfaction required. Must have current certification.
