Mammography Technologist operates specialized X-ray equipment and performs various mammography related procedures including screenings and diagnostic studies. Develops and evaluates the film for technical quality such as density contrast, definition, and distortion. Being a Mammography Technologist creates and maintains patient records and files according to required procedure. Cleans and adjusts equipment as needed. Additionally, Mammography Technologist requires an associate degree or completion of a formal radiologic technology training program. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. Requires American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)Diagnostic Mammography. Mammography Technologist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Organization: Breast Center Job Summary: JOB SUMMARY Performs breast imaging (screenings and diagnostics) in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures to ensure the best possible patient care services are delivered. . KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Reviews radiology exam requests and patient identification to ensure safe, appropriate and cost effective imaging. • Applies broad range of skills to ensure exam is completed timely and meets quality and compliance standards. • Provides appropriate Mammography screening process to patients, staff and self according to prescribed safety standards. • Assists in the orientation and training of new staff. • The responsibilities listed are a general overview of the position and additional duties may be assigned. TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES • Anatomy & Physiology Knowledge (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate anatomy and physiology knowledge in practical applications of moderate difficulty. • Radiology (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate radiology services in practical applications of moderate difficulty. • Patient Documentation (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate patient documentation in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Generally works under the direction of others while accomplishing assignments. • Compliance (Novice): Can explain and apply basic statutory instructions in normal situations on the job.
