Mammography Technologist operates specialized X-ray equipment and performs various mammography related procedures including screenings and diagnostic studies. Develops and evaluates the film for technical quality such as density contrast, definition, and distortion. Being a Mammography Technologist creates and maintains patient records and files according to required procedure. Cleans and adjusts equipment as needed. Additionally, Mammography Technologist requires an associate degree or completion of a formal radiologic technology training program. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. Requires American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)Diagnostic Mammography. Mammography Technologist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. The Mammography/Radiologic Technologist performs various Radiology examinations, Fluoroscopic procedures on patients of various ages, and mammography screening, diagnostic and interventional procedures. They perform a variety of procedures using radiation generating equipment and associated imaging systems to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes. The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for Image and equipment Quality Assurance as well as Radiation Safety and other safety protocols. Provides age specific and developmental care to Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescence, Adults and Geriatric.
