The Mammography/Radiologic Technologist performs various Radiology examinations, Fluoroscopic procedures on patients of various ages, and mammography screening, diagnostic and interventional procedures. They perform a variety of procedures using radiation generating equipment and associated imaging systems to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes. The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for Image and equipment Quality Assurance as well as Radiation Safety and other safety protocols. Provides age specific and developmental care to Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescence, Adults and Geriatric.

Essential duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

• Performs Mammography procedures and other Diagnostic Radiologic Technology Procedures in a timely and accurate manner.

• Analyze images and information for quality with the ability to identify where and how improvements cans be made and where additional views are required.

• Knowledge and application of sterile technique.

• Operates and calibrates all equipment, properly position patients and adjust positioning devices.

• Knowledge, understanding and application of all Mammography equipment QA processes required by ACR and MQSA. Including reading stations, monitors and image printer.

• Operates and maintains PACS systems.

• Operates Mammography printing system.

• Adherence to Radiation Safety, Dose Reduction and ALARA principles.

• Performs ECG examinations
• Performs various Radiologic and Fluoroscopic Procedures.
• Follows the Radiology Department procedures and protocols.
• Performs Mammography examinations according to established protocols in a timely manner.
• Performs Radiography, Fluoroscopy examinations according to established protocols in a timely manner. This includes Radiology Procedures in the Operating Room.
• Performs radiographic examination using Computed Radiology (CR) or Digital Radiography (DR) Systems.

• Proficiently operates Mammography equipment and all equipment related to Mammography procedures. Includes Radiologist reading station and monitors.

Required:

• Graduate of two-year accredited school of Radiologic Technology.

• Knowledge of breast anatomy and related abnormalities and pathologic processes.
• Understand the various breast densities and how they relate to positioning and techniques.
• Knowledge and application of sterile technique.
• Ability to communicate with the Radiologist.
• Strong communication skills are essential to provide excellent care to patients and families.
• Knowledge, understanding and application of all Mammography equipment QA processes required by ACR and MQSA. Including reading stations, monitors and image printer.
• Ability to function well with minimal or no direct supervision.
• Ability to utilize hospital and radiology computer systems and file system.
• Basic Computer skills including typing/keyboarding and ability to proficiently use a variety of software application such as Microsoft Office.
• ECG Skills.

Preferred:

• Minimum 6 months fulltime experience as a Mammography Technologist in a hospital setting.

• Minimum 1 year fulltime experience as a Radiologic Technologist in a hospital setting.
• Experience with ACR Accreditation and MQSA requirements and regulations to maintain Mammography Dept. accreditations.
• Knowledge or education in the fundamentals of customer service.
• Education in Conflict management.
