Managed Care Supervisor supervises and coordinates activities of personnel in the managed care operations department of a healthcare facility. Oversees staff that process referrals, authorizations, billing, utilization review, and capitation for hospital services. Being a Managed Care Supervisor experienced in utilization review techniques and protocols. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Managed Care Supervisor typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. May require Registered Nurse (RN). Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. The Managed Care Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. To be a Managed Care Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes. This will involve the direct supervision of billing staff in order to ensure the achievement of key department objectives and metrics. You will implement daily validation of EDI claims receipt; ongoing interim billing frequency management of all payers; ongoing analysis of hard copy billing for conversion to optimize electronic billing; and optimization of EDI edits, Excel and other reports. You will also be responsible for active EDI system implementation and the daily review/monitoring of the EDI Claims Control Center. You will: * Review and analyze claims on interim, high dollars, weekly billing metrics/KPI's, and payer trends * Attend/lead internal and external meetings on behalf of the department * Review and analyze pre-billing * Resolve problem areas that can decrease or hinder cash flow * Recommend areas for improvement * Monitor budget items that directly affect the unit * Manage daily claim edits * Manage and train staff Salary Range: $64,800 - $137,600/annuallyQualificationsWe're seeking a detail-oriented, self-directed leader with: * Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training * Three or more years of supervisory experience in healthcare billing or collections * Five or more years of experience in Hospital Billing and Collections for Commercial and Managed Care health plans * Relevant certifications in healthcare billing and collections, highly desired * Strong communication skills * Ability to track, trend, and analyze payer data * Background in commercial and managed care denial management * Experience managing commercial and managed care audits * Computer proficiency Microsoft Office
