Managed Care Supervisor supervises and coordinates activities of personnel in the managed care operations department of a healthcare facility. Oversees staff that process referrals, authorizations, billing, utilization review, and capitation for hospital services. Being a Managed Care Supervisor experienced in utilization review techniques and protocols. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Managed Care Supervisor typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. May require Registered Nurse (RN). Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. The Managed Care Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. To be a Managed Care Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes.     Salary Range: $85,000.00-$90,000.00/yr. (Depending on experience)

    Basic Job Duties:

    • Ensures the quality and safe delivery of home health services.
    • Performs client care when necessary.
    • Coordinates clinical services assuring compliance with standards of care, Agency policies/procedures and external regulations.
    • Communicates and records client and agency information with staff.
    • Coordinates multidisciplinary case conferences, professional in-services and staff meetings.
    • Represents the Agency in the community.
    • Provides line supervision of all nursing staff, therapy staff and home health aides.
    • Reports to the Director of Clinical Services/Hospice Director/Branch Manager.

    Qualifications:

    • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
    • Currently licensed as a registered nurse eligible to practice in the State of Michigan.
    • Minimum of one-year experience in a Medicare-certified home health agency and/or hospice agency, supervisory experience preferred.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of home health/hospice nursing and/or outpatient services preferred.
    • Willing and able to meet the agency need for professional nursing services.
    • Positive, professional interpersonal skills.
    • Meets CEU requirements for licensure, health and malpractice requirements demanded of all clinical/field staff who provide service through the agency.

    Essential Job Functions and Physical Requirements:

    • Able to interact successfully with members of the medical profession.
    • Able to actively participate in IDG meetings routinely.
    • Monitors compliance with state and federal regulations governing home care and hospice.
    • Must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing with superiors, physicians, field staff, office personnel, field staff, and clients/families.
    • Must have critical thinking skills.
    • Must be able to operate an automobile.
    • Possesses excellent customer relation skills.
    • Able to lift / transfer / push / pull up to 250 pounds infrequently using assistive techniques and devices appropriate to manage the task.
    • Must be able to complete multi-tasks and meet multi-deadlines.
    • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
    • Able to report for work on a regularly scheduled basis.
    • Has effective time management and excellent organizational skills.
    • Has access to personal transportation.
    • Able to use a telephone, see and hear sufficiently without the use of extraordinary assistive devices.
    • Must be able to successfully provide effective team support for both office and field staff.
