The Managing Editor manages a group of writers, freelancers, and research assistants. Oversees the design and content of several publications. Being a Managing Editor is responsible for publication schedule planning and budget control. Reviews all assignments before publication to ensure material is accurate and compliance with internal and external policies. In addition, Managing Editor requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Managing Editor typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. Working as a Managing Editor typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. This position will direct and control operational activities along with assisting families with funeral arrangements and memorial services while collaborating with a supportive team to create meaningful experiences.
Qualifications
Qualified applicants will hold and maintain a Funeral Director license that is valid in your area or possess the ability to reciprocate, have passed the National Board Exam and maintain a valid Driver's License. Additionally, the following may be required:
- A minimum of five years of funeral director and embalmer experience
- Possess necessary licensure or other certification to meet local or state legal requirements in order to perform the functions of a Funeral Director. Possess and maintain necessary licensure or certification to meet local, state, and federal legal requirements to perform the function of embalming
- Three to five years of management experience
- Proficent communication skills
