    Director, Human Resources Position Summary:
    The Director  Human Resources will work closely with operations and human resources Leadership to execute a successful human capital strategy and drive the company’s business objectives across our manufacturing locations. The role manages all aspects of the human resources function for our manufacturing employees in partnership with the plant human resources managers/generalists and talent acquisition. Furthermore, this position collaborates and with the entire Human Resources function on leadership development, performance management, regulatory compliance, and employee relations and will lead company-wide HR projects and initiatives.

    Director, Human Resources Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:
    • Serve as a strategic HR business partner to Operations Leadership, understanding business strategies and goals, and how they are accomplished through effective people strategies and programs. Provides strategic input and oversight to departmental projects.
    • Lead company-wide HR projects and initiatives.
    • Build trust and collaborative relationships with leaders across HR and Operations to successfully execute the people and manufacturing strategies.
    • Collaborate with the HR Leadership Team in the development and implementation of processes and initiatives that create sustainable competitive advantage.
    • Coach, manage, and develop team to achieve strategic objectives and day to day functions.
    • Ensure that manufacturing employee compensation practices are competitive and aligned with the company’s compensation philosophy.
    • Build and/or improve key HR infrastructure, processes, policies, systems, and procedures to improve operational effectiveness.
    • Actively participates in and leads safety programs in conjunction with Employee Health & Safety Leadership. Investigates safety incidents as required. Manages a safe working environment, accurately documents safety related training, and effectively communicates safety incidents.
    • Maintain oversite of manufacturing’s recruitment, placement, training, development, and retention programs.
    • Ensure compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity laws and regulations and advance the company diversity and inclusion initiatives.
    • Protect the interests of employees in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable governmental laws and regulations.
    • Guide, coach, inspire, and develop the team of HR Managers, Generalists and Recruiters in support of overall HR and business strategy.
    • Provide expertise to HR and Operations Leadership as it pertains to learning and development, performance management, employee experience and engagement, senior leadership development, and succession planning.
    • Utilize business metrics to inform leadership on opportunities where innovative people solutions can be developed and leveraged for optimal business results.
    • Ensure consistent, timely, and accurate application and compliance with applicable state and federal employment laws and regulations.
    • Work with the CHRO and General Counsel to mitigate risks associated with potential legal action, including mediations, EEOC, DOL, arbitrations and/or other actions.
    • Ensures all manufacturing locations are FLSA compliant.
    • Assists leadership in union avoidance activities.
    • Continuously evaluates existing programs and processes and develops new initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications (Required):
    • 10 years of experience in Human Resources with roles of increasing responsibility in both manufacturing and corporate settings.
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Management, or a related course of study.
    • Experience as an HR leader in a manufacturing environment with a strong understanding of plant operations.
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well cross functionally.
    • Experience designing, building, and implementing HR functional programs, policies, tools, and procedures.
    • Strong knowledge of HR and employment laws/regulations to effectively make recommendations on compliant courses of action.
    • Fluency across a range of HR disciplines, including organizational development, leadership and talent development, HR process design, compensation management, HR administration and diversity and inclusion.

    • Ability to effectively manage performance, engage team members, provide coaching, and respond to situations affecting staff.

    • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.
    • Travel at least 25% of time to our manufacturing locations outside of Portland, TN.
