Manufacturing Director oversees manufacturing operations and the production management and supervisory teams for a plant or unit. Incorporates organization-wide operational safety, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and cost control policies and programs into manufacturing processes. Being a Manufacturing Director monitors production metrics, responds to and resolves problems, and recommends process improvements, new technologies, and methods to maximize operational efficiency. Collaborates with leaders to manage and resolve workforce or labor issues and develop long-term solutions. Additionally, Manufacturing Director implements long-term plans for facilities, equipment, materials, technology, and workforce resources to maintain manufacturing capacity and processes that support business goals. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Manufacturing Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Manufacturing Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     The Advanced Manufacturing Technician is responsible for performing a variety of manufacturing processes to convert raw materials into finished products. The AMT is expected to be proficient in soldering, resistance welding, punching, potting, trimming, inspection, testing, measuring, wire stripping, cutting, laminating, bonding, baking, crimping, etc. The AMT follows directions from the call leader and the AME Manager. The AMT is expected to read and understand Birk specifications as well as customer prints. The AMT utilizes general best practices to manufacture high quality products from the prototype stage to production. The AMT is expected to adapt while learning based competencies with the goal of being semi-independent and requiring minimal direction to complete complicated tasks.

    Essential Functions

    • The AMT is expected to interpret a specification and build the product with limited assistance.
    • Read and understand all written work instructions (bluebird).
    • Verify kitted raw materials (quantity and proper items).
    • Learn and execute all required steps of the build process including soldering, resistance welding, punching, potting, trimming, inspection, testing, measuring, wire stripping, cutting, laminating, bonding, baking, crimping, etc.
    • Maintain proper identification / labeling of parts through all process steps.
    • Work cooperatively with all internal departments while taking a product from base panel to completion. 
    • Follow all company policies and all safety guidelines.
    • Determine the difference of a good/bad heater, circuit, and wire wound panel.
    • Inspect his or her own work to make sure it is acceptable to the requirements and description of the product. Average eyesight is necessary.
    • Clean raw materials and finished parts using cleaning solutions (such as Isopropyl Alcohol and/or water), air hoses, and cloths. 
    • Prepare PSA (pressure sensitive adhesive) application and the bladder press for PSA.  
    • The AMT will be responsible for confirming the correct PSA is used in a build and verify shelf life of that PSA prior to installation.
    • Tape heaters on boards for potting/conformal coating.
    • Cover leads-potting, conformal coating, under cover with patches, or doghouse.
    • String heaters and terminate leads with copper crimps.
    • Operate Spartanics and die clicker machines.


    Requirements

    This is a full-time position, and typical work hours and days are Monday through Friday, 7:00AM to 3:30PM 

    Education: 

    • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
    • Basic math knowledge
    • Able to speak and read English (preferred, but not essential)


    Experience:  

    Previous manufacturing experience (preferred, but not essential)
