  • Doppelmayr USA is seeking an experienced and results-driven Director of Manufacturing, with a focus on strategic planning, process improvement, and operational excellence. Based in Salt Lake City, UT, the Director of Manufacturing will be responsible for strategically managing the mechanical/structural and electrical production departments to support successful project completion.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop and execute manufacturing strategies that align with the company's overall goals and objectives.
    • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the mechanical/structural and electrical manufacturing departments, including production planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
    • Monitor production processes, including developing and tracking Key Performance Indicators, to ensure efficiency, productivity, profitability, and quality targets are consistently met or exceeded.
    • Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure that manufactured products meet or exceed customer expectations and industry standards.
    • Implement and enforce processes, work practices, and training to promote a safe work environment and culture.
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams, such as engineering, procurement, and logistics, to ensure seamless coordination and communication throughout the manufacturing process.
    • Identify areas for process improvement and implement strategies to optimize production workflows, reduce costs, and increase operational efficiency.
    • Manage and develop a high-performing manufacturing team, including hiring, training, mentoring, and performance management.
    • Collaborate with other departments, such as planning and sales, to align manufacturing activities with sales forecasts, demand planning, and budgetary constraints.
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, industry standards, and quality management systems, such as ISO certifications.
    • Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in manufacturing, and actively seek opportunities to leverage new technologies or methodologies to improve manufacturing processes.
    • Review the performance of direct reports, including identifying opportunities and developing plans to improve the performance of individuals and the production departments.

    Required Skills

    • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
    • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and implement effective solutions.
    • Proven experience in developing and implementing manufacturing strategies that drive operational excellence and achieve business objectives.
    • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing principles, processes, and technologies, including lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
    • Proficient in using manufacturing software systems and tools, such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. Knowledge of IFS is a plus.
    • Proficient in manipulating, analyzing, and using data to measure performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
    • Strong understanding of quality management systems and best practices, such as ISO 9001.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels.
    • Demonstrated project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and practices within the manufacturing industry.
    • Ability to adapt to fast-paced and changing environments, and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (manufacturing, industrial or mechanical engineering, business management, etc.). A Master’s degree is a plus.
    • Proven experience in a senior manufacturing management role, with a minimum of 8-10 years of experience in manufacturing operations.
    • Strong track record of successfully managing large-scale manufacturing operations, preferably within a complex and highly regulated industry.
    • Experience in implementing lean manufacturing principles and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Familiarity with relevant regulatory requirements and quality management systems, such as ISO certifications.
    • Excellent knowledge of manufacturing processes, technologies, and best practices.
    • Demonstrated experience in managing and developing a high-performing manufacturing team.
    • Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and manufacturing software systems.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Professional certifications, such as Certified Manufacturing Professional (CMP) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), are a plus.
    • Familiarity with ski lifts is a plus.

    Job Information

    Schedule:

    • Full-time – typically 40-50 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
    • This is a salary position, so some evening and weekend work may be required to ensure on-time execution of projects.

    Work Location:

    • This is an in-office position in Salt Lake City, UT 84104.
    • The successful candidate must be able to reliably commute to the office to report to work.
