Manufacturing Director oversees manufacturing operations and the production management and supervisory teams for a plant or unit. Incorporates organization-wide operational safety, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and cost control policies and programs into manufacturing processes. Being a Manufacturing Director monitors production metrics, responds to and resolves problems, and recommends process improvements, new technologies, and methods to maximize operational efficiency. Collaborates with leaders to manage and resolve workforce or labor issues and develop long-term solutions. Additionally, Manufacturing Director implements long-term plans for facilities, equipment, materials, technology, and workforce resources to maintain manufacturing capacity and processes that support business goals. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Manufacturing Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Director Manufacturing Engineering - remote

  • This position reports to the VP Operations and Transformation and is responsible for executing the global operations strategy, establishing and developing ICT Global Manufacturing Engineering team and drive consistent performance and excellence in alignment with business growth objectives.
    In this role, you will work closely with operational leaders, engineering leaders, product management leaders within ICT, and segment/corporate manufacturing technology leaders to lead ICT Manufacturing Engineering initiatives and improve processes/outcomes in a high-growth, high complexity environment undergoing a major business transformation for manufacturing technology.

    Responsibilities

    • Lead manufacturing engineering process reengineering for ICT global
    • Lead sustaining engineering processes, aligned to TE Best expectations
    • Establish and implement new and stable manufacturing processes on market leader level
    • Overall responsibility to provide manufacturing concepts for all new and existing products
    • Drive digital tools implementation to upgrade manufacturing capabilities
    • Develop new manufacturing concepts and apply new manufacturing technology to improve performance such as ongoing flexible automation strategies
    • Create a strategy roadmap for all manufacturing engineering (ME) processes (Molds, Dies & Tool shop assembly etc)
    • Optimize tooling costs and time to market with advanced design concepts, additive manufacturing, reverse engineering etc
    • Improve the design for manufacturing in collaboration with Product Engineering, Quality, Operations, CoE etc
    • Support all production lines’ migration/expansion activities from manufacturing engineering perspective globally
    • Define flexible equipment, tooling and floor space to improve capital efficiency partnering with plant managers/operations leaders and CoEs;
    • Fulfil CER expectations on concept design and successful industrialization from manufacturing engineering side;
    • Build a strong global manufacturing engineering team through 6B talent strategy (Build, Buy, Balance, Borrow, Bounce and Bind)
    • Develop and maintain programs and policies to ensure a highly effective and motivated team, coach and develop the team by fostering an environment of continuous learning, and encouraging global collaboration in a geographically and culturally dispersed organization with a strong view on continuous improvement
    • Establish the KPIs to measure success and continuous tracking of required skills in current and future business opportunities
    • Other operations engineering projects per business growth needs

    • Responsible for developing and executing manufacturing technology strategy in alignment with the business unit objectives and operations strategy.
    • Responsible for developing strategic workforce strategy to meet business objectives for NPI and sustaining engineering.
    • Develop comprehensive manufacturing technology roadmap using appropriate input and levers in collaboration with other different teams.
    • Capacity to make tough balanced decisions in best interest of the business and company with respect to people, investments, and total cost of ownership

    • Demonstrate a track record of delivering strong results in safety, exceptional customer focus (quality and delivery), and finance (gross margin productivity and inventory).
    • Responsible for balancing long-term investments and short-term commitments.
    • Drive manufacturing technology competitiveness to deliver business growth needs.
    • Provide data and support to the VP, Operations to resolve issues and management of the team.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree major in engineering, management, electronics or equivalent
    • Minimum fifteen (15) years’ experience in leadership roles within a manufacturing organization leading >300 employees.
    • Demonstrated understanding of financial and operational performance data required.
    • Strong leadership skills and ability to drive change and accountability in a fast-paced, international matrix organization.
    • Leads across cultural, geographic, business, and functional boundaries.
    • Ability to energize and motivate people and to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization and lead as a change agent and hold people accountable for high standards of performance.
    • Proven track record of creating, implementing and/or sustaining a lean operation within a dynamic environment.
    • Experience in developing, implementing and improving key performance indicator metrics through strong data analysis and continuous improvement.
    • Knowledge and practice of Quality Systems and Problem Solving (Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing).
    • Fluent in English, both written and spoken, other languages such as Germany, Spanish, Chinese etc is a nice plus

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Master’s degree
    • Experience in engineering and Operations and/or commercial experience
    • Operations transformation and technology leadership
    • Functional experience with SAP and other relative technology systems/IT tools

    COMPENSATION
    • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $169,800 - $254,520 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
