Manufacturing Director oversees manufacturing operations and the production management and supervisory teams for a plant or unit. Incorporates organization-wide operational safety, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and cost control policies and programs into manufacturing processes. Being a Manufacturing Director monitors production metrics, responds to and resolves problems, and recommends process improvements, new technologies, and methods to maximize operational efficiency. Collaborates with leaders to manage and resolve workforce or labor issues and develop long-term solutions. Additionally, Manufacturing Director implements long-term plans for facilities, equipment, materials, technology, and workforce resources to maintain manufacturing capacity and processes that support business goals. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Manufacturing Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Manufacturing Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Position Responsibilities
    • This is not a remote position. 
    • Continuous improvement process - Leading Lean Six Sigma / Kaizen
    • Provide day to day leadership, support, solutions and direction for the plant operations, production control, shipping, and employees at both plant locations.
      • Oconomowoc, WI – 40 employees
      • Carlisle, OH – 7 employees
    • Communicate clear expectations and hold plant and shipping supervisors accountable for expectations including pursuing operational excellence.
    • Implement metrics for manufacturing and shipping that clearly define the goals.  Ensuring the goals are aligned with the financial goals, quality, and overall business objectives.
    • Own the safety, environmental and regulatory compliance for each plant operation.
    • Build and maintain a strong functional team through effective communication, recruiting, training, coaching, team building, employee development and succession planning.
    • Ensure quality assurance and quality control compliance.  Track Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) monthly, both internally and for suppliers.  Looking for trends and areas for improvement.
    • Facilitate communication and information sharing between production/shipping team members and office team members.
    • Part of the LCM Leadership Team.  Report out monthly on goals pertaining to COPQ, inventory turns, cost reductions (productivity, utilization and efficiency gains and supplier cost reductions).
    • Reinforce a culture focused on teamwork, effective communication, problem solving and collaboration.
    • Ensure Operations practices align with overall business strategy and goals.
    • Coach supervisors on creative solutions and use appropriate problem-solving techniques to resolve plant issues such as production bottlenecks, employee conflicts, material shortages, and process breakdowns.
    • Own the capital planning process. Coordinating with Plant Managers, sales team, Compliance and safety, finance, and Engineering to ensure proper Capital Expenditure. Ensuring Requests are in place with appropriate economic justification in a timely manner (ROI).
    • Benchmark and implement best practices across the company.
    • Champion initiatives beyond the plants as needed by the business.
    • Support and promote the Vision of the company “Innovation to Make Life Easier”
    • Create the sense of urgency needed to drive improvements and resolve issues proactively.

    Qualifications
    • 5 years in a Manufacturing Leadership role
    • Experience in Lean, Six Sigma or other Kaizen continuous improvement strategies.
    • Previous work in a Manufacturing environment
    • Experience growing employees to align with growing with promotion of our current employees.
    • Proven Leader.
    • Experience with Cloud Suite Industrial (ShopTrak, Syteline), PowerBI (is preferred)
    • Legal Authorization to work in the United States - sponsorship will not be provided for this role
    Educational Requirements:
    • Bachelors Degree or equivalent based on work experience
    • Additional secondary education in Business Management, Leadership Trainings, supply chain is preferred
